We’ve created our own little club in a corner of the Metaverse.
Five weeks ago tonight, I created a room in Clubhouse called the Game Industry Cocktail Hour. We thought it would last for an hour or two… and when I woke up in the morning, it was still going. It has been going ever since. It kept going because of our values of Love and Inclusion, which the moderators took to heart — virally dubbing oothers they trusted as moderators, passing the values on to the people in the next time zone, who went on to recruit the next wave of people.
We’ve now created the Game Industry club on Clubhouse, and it is now the largest and most active club covering game industry content. In addition to the Game Industry Cocktail Hour, which runs 24x7, we host several topics during the week on everything from game playing to game design, to the metaverse, to diversity, to new business models like NFTs and eSports. The vision for our club is to give you access to the same quality of conversation and education as you’d get at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) — but happening every day of the year.
If you work in the game industry, aspire to work in it — or are simply curious about games — we’d like to welcome you with open arms. You can follow me on Clubhouse (at: jradoff) and you’ll learn about the various events we run.
If you’re already a member, stop by our Discord server and hang out with us there when you’re unable to talk (or if you’d like a backchannel during our larger discussions).
See you in the club!
